What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that can be saved to your computer when you visit
a web site. The contents of the file are dependant on the web site and can vary
There are four classifications of cookies:
Strictly necessary cookies let you use essential features like our online shop.
Without these cookies, services that you have asked for, like adding items to your
shopping cart, cannot be provided. These cookies do not gather any information about
you that could be used for marketing or remembering where you've been on the internet.
T2TUK/Kagan-UK only uses one of these cookies, see below for more details.
Functionality cookies are used to provide services or to remember settings to improve
your visit. T2TUK/Kagan-UK does not use any FUNCTIONAL
cookies at present.
These are used to collect information about how you use web sites. These cookies
do not collect any information that could identify you. T2TUK/Kagan-UK
does not use any PERFORMANCE cookies.
Targeting cookies are used to send third parties information on your web site visit so that
they can make their advertising more relevant to you when you visit their websites.
Targeting cookies are linked to services provided by third parties, such as 'like'
and 'share' buttons and advertisements and allow you to share pages on social networks
like Facebook, Twitter and Google. T2TUK/Kagan-UK does not
use any TARGETING cookies.
T2TUK/Kagan-UK uses a single cookie file. This file is
created if you sign in to your account or add any product to your shopping cart.
We set the file to expire in 30 days, which effectively means the file cannot be
used any more. If you sign out of your account we set the file to expire immediately.
What we use the cookie for:
We use the cookie to remember if you are signed in to the web site and we also store
your shopping cart ID. We then use this shopping cart ID to retrieve your shopping
cart contents which are safely stored on our database server. We use an extremely
large random number for your shopping cart so no one has any chance of guessing
your current ID.
This number is so random we could create 4,014,242,213,841 shopping cart ID's every
second for every one of the 6 billion people on the planet for 70 years without
duplicating a single number. Now that's random!
If the cookie expires or you checkout of the shop we create a new shopping cart
ID the next time you shop.
If you access your T2TUK/Kagan-UK account on a public computer,
remember to sign out.
